Brandon Sandusky Earns First Win With Solid Outing

Brandon Sandusky became the ninth Mudcat pitcher to earn a win on Friday with four solid innings of work. Sandusky allowed one run on one hit and struck out 6 batters. Tarran Senay gave the Mudcats all the runs they would need in the bottom of the first inning as he launched an Anthony Monaco curveball deep into right field for a two-run HR that scored Tony Kostelnik, who had doubled. AJ Olasz then hit one off the top of the fence for a triple and scored on an error to make it 3-0. Hot Shots Saloon cut the deficit to 3-1 in the second when they executed a double steal. Hot Shots threatened once again in the 4th inning. Monaco reached base on an error and Logan Corrigan walked to put runners on first and second with no outs. Ben Nolan then hit a deep fly ball to centerfield that Monaco tagged up on. Centerfielder, Tarran Senay threw a perfect strike to third to gun down Monaco for the second out of the inning and squash the rally. Hot Shots threatened again in the 5th inning. Randy Dobnak got hit by a pitch and Chad Brown walked to put runners on first and second with one out. The rally was squashed once again by Mudcat catcher, Ryan Kandsberger, who picked Dobnak off of second base. The Mudcats used some small ball to add onto their lead in the 6th inning. Three runs scored on a sac bunt by Zack Miller. With runners on first and second and no outs, Miller laid down a sac bunt to move the runners up. Third baseman, Anthony Monaco, tried to get the force at third but threw the ball down the left field line. The left fielder then threw the ball out of play scoring all three runners and giving Quinn Construction a commanding 7-1 lead which they would not relinquish.
