Brewers Over Sharks, 15-5, In Error and Sun-Filled Game
The Brewers were able to overcome a nasty sun and several errors that contributed to most of the runs they yielded. But they also took advantage of some Sharks' errors as well. Bob Diaz was solid on the mound, picking up his first Brewers victory. They offense was led by Reggie Dominguez (4-6 with a double), Fred Goetschel (4-6, 2 RBIs), Rick Guardino (3-6 with a double), and Greg Bertrand (3-4 plus two walks and two shutout innings on the mound to close the game). The defense was highlighted by a double play as Bertrand caught a fly in left and threw a one-hopper to Jesse Tejeda at the plate. Also, first baseman Goetchel made several impressive picks.
The Sharks were led by Mitch Landau's three hits and two throws from right to first to take away hits from Steve Fleishman, who returned the favor by losing a Landau fly ball in the sun in right field...so much for justice!
