Stars edge Royals in well played game by both teams

Led by Jeremy Umland's superb complete game pitching and an excellent defense, including three double plays and a pickoff from catcher Joe Doherty to Matt St. John covering second base, the Stars outdueled the Royals in a well played game by both teams. Jimmy Bridges pitched a strong game for the Royals, whose defense turned in two double plays and stopped Stars rallies in the 6th, 7th, and 8th. Rob Owens again excelled for the Stars in the field and at the plate. Adam Nicolai's double was the only Stars extra base hit.
