The Brewers were firing on all cylinders against a tough Pirates team. Greg Bertrand, Brewers starting pitcher, went five innings and yielded an infield single, no runs, no walks and struck out six. Scott Singleton pitched the final four innings, also yielding an infield single, no runs, and no walks, while striking out seven. The Brewers' bats were led by Matt Trites and Jesse Tejeda, with three hits each, while Jim Fier and Joe Pita each had two hits. Also, the Brew Crew defense played an errorless game.
