Angels Prevail in Battle for First Place
The Angels plated 2 in the top of the first and the Bandits answered with 2 in the bottom of the second. After that, starter Jess Whitehill held the Bandits scorelesss for 5 more innings as the Angels went on to a 7-3 victory and sole possession of first place. The Angels made the most of their 9 hits, 2 each by Reggie Marshall(2-3, bb, run, rbi); Charles Blakey (2-3, bb, rbi) and David Loyola (2-4, single, double, rbi, sb)to score their 9 runs. The Bandits turned a bizarre triple play to quash a no outs, bases loaded rally in the third: Wil Salazar popped up in the infield and all the baserunners assumed it was an infield fly, but the umpires didn't call it and pitcher Jeff Gould picked up the ball and threw home to start the unusual 1-2-5-4 triple play.
