Angels Come From Behind to Win In Bottom of Ninth!!!

In a battle of the bulldogs (Berry for the Lighning and Whitehill for the Angels) the Angels pulled out a ninth inning Father's Day Miracle to win the game and preserve their hold on first place. Berry and Whitehill matched 0's for 3 1/2 innings before the Angels bats awoke and scored 4 runs in the fourth on 2 run singles by Eric Castro and Ernie Goldstein. The Lightning scored 1 in the 6th to make it 4-1. With a thin pen, Whitehill came out for the 8th and, showing signs of fatigue (or age-or both) gave up 4 runs and the Lightning took their first lead of the day. Berry retired the Angels in order in the bottom of the eighth to preserve the lead. Whitehil came out to start the ninth and the Lightning loaded the bases witn NO outs, but Steve Foley hit a bullet to short that Dave Tipton speared and threw to third for the DP Miracle Part I). Lead off hitter Cooley flied out to center to end the threat and keep it at 5-4 going into the Angels' final AB.
Andrew Pelter (a NR) hit an infield single to open the inning, but his runner was thrown out trying to steal second. Tim Hopkins singled, bringing up the Angels' 2 best hitters. Wil Salazar singled, moving Hopkins to 3rd. Then David Loyola doubled Hopkins home, moving Wil (the go-ahead run) to 3rd. With first base open, the Lightning elected to pitch to Eric Castro, but brought the infield in. Eric looped a fly to deep short, but there was nobody there with the infield in and Wil came in to score the winning run (Miracle Part II). This one was a classic, both teams playing clean, crsip baseball and overcoming adversity to bring it to a climax.
