Volk helps Scarborough down Gorham 5-2

Gorham 5-2
Lilly Volk went 1-3 as Scarborough took home a 5-2 victory over Gorham in seven innings at Gorham on Monday.

She singled in the second inning.

Sophia Burnham looked sharp on the rubber. Sophia held Gorham hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out one.


Gaudette was charged with the loss. She lasted just five innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed five runs.

Scarborough closer Lilly put away the final six outs to record the save.

The top of the first saw Scarborough take an early lead, 1-0.

It didn't take long for Gorham to respond as it scored one run of its own in the first. Gorham scored on a passed ball.

The game's last lead went to Scarborough thanks to a second inning rally that saw two runs cross the plate on an error and an RBI single by Lilly.

Gorham scored one run in the bottom of the fourth to cut its deficit to one. A groundout by DiBiase fueled Gorham's comeback. But, Abbie Murrell got Roberts to strike out to end the inning.

Scarborough added two more runs in the top of the fifth. The inning looked promising, as Maggie Murphy singled, plating Ashley Gleason to kick things off. That was followed up by Brittany Plowman's single, scoring Maggie.
