Early Lead Gives Storm Easy Victory Over Stags, 17 - 0

SMAA TOURNAMENT - Prelim

Scarborough jumped out to an early lead on Cheverus and captured a 17-0 victory on Saturday at Scarborough.

Ten runs in the first three innings allowed Scarborough to put the game away early.

An RBI single by Megan Murrell in the first inning and an error during the second inning helped Scarborough put some runs on the board early.
Chloe Gorey racked up three RBIs on three hits for Scarborough. She doubled in the second and third innings and singled in the fourth inning.

Scarborough's Alyssa Williamson kept Cheverus off the scoreboard for all five innings she was on the rubber. She pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on two hits while ringing up three.

Dawson ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. She allowed 17 runs in four innings, walked nine and struck out none.

Scarborough added eight more runs in the bottom of the third. Abbie Murrell singled, scoring Hannah Ricker and Dani Plummer to start the inning. That was followed up by Chloe's double, plating Sophia Burnham.

Scarborough piled on seven more runs in the bottom of the fourth. A bases loaded walk scored Chloe for the inning's first run. That was followed up by Lilly Volk's single, bringing home Maggie Murphy.
