So.Po. Outdone by Burnham and Volk in Scarborough 5-1 Win
SMAA CHAMPIONSHIP
Scarborough beat South Portland 5-1 in seven innings on Saturday at Scarborough behind Sophia Burnham, who went 3-3 at the plate.
She singled in the second and third innings and doubled in the fifth inning.
Lilly Volk picked up the win for Scarborough. Lilly allowed one earned run, four hits and two walks while striking out five over seven innings of work.
Aceto was the game's losing pitcher. She lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
Scarborough didn't relinquish the lead after scoring one run in the first inning when it scored on an RBI double by Alyssa Williamson.
After posting one run in the second, Scarborough again scored one in the third. In the second, Scarborough scored on a single by Abbie Murrell.
In the seventh inning, South Portland pushed across its only run of the day on a solo home run by Indorf.
