Diamonds Get Lucky Win
In a game in which they managed only 2 hits and quite frankly deserved to lose, the York Diamonds battled back for 3 runs in the last inning to defeat a much-improved Mississauga Orioles squad by a score of 7-6.
Starter Geoff McCallum silenced the York bats, allowing only 1 hit through four innings, exiting with a 3-2 lead.
In the 5th, York took a 4-3 lead on a wild pitch and a Rob Rivers bases loaded walk.
In the 6th, three York errors coupled with some timely hits pushed 3 runs across to give the Orioles a 6-4 lead.
In the bottom of the sixth, with one out, 4 walks in a row set the stage for Brett Burns 2-run walkoff double that scored pinch runners Jon Keilhauer and Jamie Parkes.
Eric Foley pitched into the 6th for the Diamonds and Steve Foley recorded the last two outs and was credited with the victory. Matt D'Uva suffered the loss for the Orioles. D'Uva also hit a 2-run homer in the game.
