Diamonds Win Peterborough Tourney!

The York Diamonds got a sweet win over their long-time nemesis, the Mississauga Colt 45's in storming back to win the Peterborough Tournament by a score of 7-6.

York led 2-0 in the first on an error and a Rich Freeman sacrifice fly.

The Colts got one in the second and five in the fifth to take a seemingly insurmountable 6-2 edge.

York countered with one in the 4th and one in the 5th with Rob Fraser and Eric Foley picking up the RBI's. A tired Foley came on to work in the 6th and threw two shutout innings to give the Diamonds a chance to come back.

York tied it in the sixth on an incredible play as a wild pitch scored Raidel Cabezas and when the throw got past the pitcher covering home, Don Cantwell scampered home to tie it 6-6.

In the 7th, Jeff Kawakami relieved Nate Bradley and hit leadoff man Rich Freeman with a pitch. After a wild pitch, a sacrifice bunt by Pete Zakkak sent him to third setting the stage for Cabezas' walkoff sacrifice fly to give York the title.
