Medina Gets York A Split

Things looked grim for York as between games, there was a silence on the bench as the players reflected on yet another blown opportunity while munching on cucumber on watercress finger sandwiches and sipping on raspberry tea.

Game 2 featured a phenomenally gutty effort by the whole club especially Medina and catcher Jeff Hofstetter who volunteered to catch both games. Medina struck out four a had two key hits bringing home three runs. Rob Fraser and Neil Parekh chipped in with 3 hits of their own and Greg Shannon, Jeremy Service, and Brent Sterling added 2 apiece, fueling a 16 hit attack. A wacky play also occurred as Neil Parekh reached third base on a strikeout somehow.

A relieved skipper Paul Freeman held a private candlelit press conference and had these comments:"I think Bammer and I were on the heavy suicide watch as the losing is just beating everyone down but then we finally got it together. I can't say enough about the effort in the second game. Vic was awesome and showed a ton of heart out there. Jeff sucked it up and called 2 great games behind the plate. Bammer kept his head up and kept stinging the ball. Neil's defense was great at short and Greg, Brent, and Jeremy had solid games as well. Spanky had a base hit in the first game and Brian played great D. We showed some character in that second game and hopefully we are back on the beam now. We've got Eric going on Thursday in what will be a key game vs the A's.
