Angels and Hounds both Undefeated after Game 1?
The Angels and Rockhounds started their season on a beautiful morning at Roybal that ended in a 6-6 tie. The Hounds plated 5 unearned runs on some sloppy Angels defense and Greg Frey went the distance for the Hounds, holding the Angels scoreless for the last four innings. Angel hurler Anthony Di Pietro gave up only one hit and 0 earned runs in 4.1 innings while Allen Zentgraf gave up only 1 earned run on 4 hits while striking out 7. At the plate, Angels Tim Hopkins, Seth Craig, Zentgraf and Steve Acevedo each had 2 hits and Lee Frankel had a perfect day going 1-1 with 2 walks and a sac fly. For the Rockhounds, Brian Montemurro punished the ball, going 2-4 with a double. Defensively, both teams showed up to play, highlighted by Charles Blakey traveling deep into the left center gap to rob an extra base hit, and Monsor Middleton laying out in right to halt an Angels' rally in the 4th.
