Angels Get into Win Column!
The Angels finally get into the win column with an 8-6 victory over the Tigers at Poly High. The Tigers scored first, building a 4-0 lead before the Angels scored 2 in the second and 4 in the fourth to take the lead, which they gave back before taking it again with a 2 run fifth. Allen Zentgraf went 5 for the win, benefitting as the Angels scored 2 in the bottom of the fifth. Lee Frankel pitched 4 scoreless innings for the save, retiring the first 11 Tigers hitters he faced. On offense, the bottom of the order came thru big as Sean Monahan had 2 hits and 3 rbi, Brian Combs was 1-3 with an rbi and pool player John Park had 2 hits and an rbi and Mark Freeman got his first hit. Lorenzo Ramos made his much awaited return from the DL, doubling in his first AB in several months and finishing the day with 2 hits and 2 runs. Rich Thorne was outstanding in relief for the Tigers, shutting out the Angels for his 3 innings while facing the minimum 9 hitters.
