Storm Uses Big Third Inning to Beat Rams 15-1

The Scarborough Redstorm Varsity beat Deering HS 15-1 in five innings on Wednesday at Scarborough after a 10-run explosion in the third inning.

The Scarborough Redstorm Varsity scored in the third on an RBI double by Chloe Gorey, a three-run home run by Maggie Murphy, an RBI single by Sophia Burnham, a two-run home run by Abbie Murrell, an RBI double by Kaleigh Scoville, an RBI single by Lilly Volk, and an RBI single by Chloe Griffin.

Murphy racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Scarborough Redstorm Varsity.

Burnham shut down Deering HS while she was in the circle. Burnham gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out seven during her four innings of work.

The Scarborough Redstorm Varsity easily handled Deering HS pitching as seven hitters combined for 16 hits, 13 RBIs and 12 runs scored.

Kaylee Helmick was the game's losing pitcher. She allowed 15 runs in three innings, walked none and struck out none.

The Scarborough Redstorm Varsity stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the first, scoring one run on a single by Murrell.

The Scarborough Redstorm Varsity tacked on another four runs in the second. Volk started the inning with a single, plating Scoville. That was followed up by Chloe Griffin's double, scoring Chloe Gorey.
