Scarborough Blanks Marshwood 8-0

An ace performance by Lilly Volk spurred the Scarborough Redstorm Varsity to an 8-0 win in seven innings over Marshwood HS on Monday at Marshwood.

Volk kept Marshwood HS off the board during her six innings of work. Volk struck out eight and allowed no walks and two hits.

The Scarborough Redstorm Varsity beat Marshwood HS thanks to 14 hits, including five extra base hits. The Scarborough Redstorm Varsity scored three runs in the seventh on the Scarborough Redstorm Varsity scored in the seventh on an RBI single by Brittany Plowman and a two-run single by Chloe Gorey.

Plowman racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Scarborough Redstorm Varsity.

Emily Robida took the loss for Marshwood HS. She allowed eight runs in seven innings, walked one and struck out three.

The game was never in doubt after the second, as the Scarborough Redstorm Varsity scored one run on an RBI single by Chloe Griffin.

The Scarborough Redstorm Varsity brought home two runs in the fourth inning, and matched that run total in the sixth. In the fourth, the Scarborough Redstorm Varsity scored on an RBI double by Plowman, scoring Kaleigh Scoville.

The Scarborough Redstorm Varsity piled on two more runs in the top of the sixth. A clutch sacrifice fly scored Plowman to open the scoring in the frame. That was followed up by Laura Powell's double, plating Chloe Griffin.
