Scarborough Drops SoPo 5-4 Behind Burnham's Early Sac Fly's

Four first-inning runs helped the Scarborough Redstorm Varsity to a 5-4 win over South Portland HS at Scarborough on Saturday.

The Scarborough Redstorm Varsity scored in the first on a sacrifice fly by Sophia Burnham, a two-run single by Kaleigh Scoville, and an RBI single by Chloe Gorey.

The Scarborough Redstorm Varsity staved off South Portland HS as South Portland HS was unable to match the Scarborough Redstorm Varsity down the stretch.

South Portland HS scored on an RBI triple by Micucci and a groundout by Bouchard in the sixth inning and a two-run double by Micucci in the seventh inning. Still, South Portland HS couldn't draw even.

Chloe Griffin got a hit in each of her three at bats. She singled in the first and third innings and doubled in the fifth inning.

Lilly Volk got the win for the Scarborough Redstorm Varsity. She allowed four runs over seven innings. She struck out two, walked two and surrendered six hits.

Aceto ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. She lasted just six innings, walked one, struck out three, and allowed five runs.
