Bruins Out Slug Sox 21-14
Although the pay-per-view totals are not yet tallied, the "Melee at Monroe" was significantly more entertaining than the 300 million dollar dance last night.
Both teams traded shots all game long, with the Bruins eventually using a 12-run 6th inning to pull away. While the Red Sox relied on a steady diet of bloop singles, the Bruins sat back and waited for the big hits to come -- including Dave Brown's "hit it to the concrete in left field" HR, and multi-RBI triples by Jade Devitt, Shawn Chou, and Jason Swink. The bottom of the Bruin order came out swinging as well, with Gary Cozine delivering a 4 hit day, Elliot Reinfeld adding 2 hits (scoring 3 times), and super-sub Dave Smartt plating two runs.
Robert Lewis returned from his 2-week Zima haze/street hockey sabbatical to pitch 7 hard fought innings in relief to earn the win.
