Hounds snatch victory from the jaws of Tigers
Happy Father's Day to all the dads grinding it out this Sunday.
There's high drama every time these dogs and cats tangle, and this Father's Day contest was no exception. The Hounds win on a walkoff single by by Pat Allen, capping a 3-5 day. The Cats led all game behind a dominant performance by Rich Thorne, who held the Hounds scoreless into the 6th and left with a 5-1 lead after 7 & 2/3. But the Dogs went to work with two outs in the 8th, cutting the Big Cats lead to 5-3 after Thorne exited.
In the bottom of the ninth Jeremy Spring, Danny Gilbert, and Pat Allen strung together three consecutive hits with two outs, the last of which was a screamer off Allen's bat down the left field line, scoring Spring from 2nd uncontested for the win.
Greg Frey pitched each frame, notching the win and 8 k's in the complete game effort. For the Tigers, Tim O'Hair was a menace on the bases, stealing 4 during a 3-5 day.
