Reversal Of Fortune
Last week the Condors gave away a victory in the 9th, while this week it reverses and they snag a victory with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th (with some unintended help from the Red Sox). From the 2nd inning on, the lead changed hands, or became tied, in every inning. In the 7th the Sox went up by 2 runs, which the Condors got back in the bottom of the 8th to tie the game. The top of the 9th sees the Sox go up with 2 more runs on a bases loaded 2-run single by Joe Bruna. In the last of the 9th the Condors have 2 outs and no base runners. Then a HBP, a BB, a hit and 2 difficult fielding chances give the Condors 5 consecutive runners and the 3 runs needed for the win. The final run scores by Brant Dveirin when David Ragan-George hits a difficult grounder to short that almost became the 3rd out. Jay Smith goes the distance for the win and reaches base 4 times, with 2 hits. Paul Rosenblum, Bud Golditch, Jeff Finkelstein and Jon Curl (odd man out!) collect big RBIs to keep the Condors in it. For the Sox, Craig Dubner and Carmen Rizzo, each collect 3 hits. Dave Gawkowski has the best defensive play of the game throwing out a Condor runner at home, from left center. The Condors almost get a triple play, with the bases loaded in the 5th, when they give up only 1 run. A good victory for the Condors is a tough loss for the Sox.
