Volk hits and pitches Scarborough to 18-0 victory

Lilly Volk came up big at the dish and on the rubber, leading Scarborough High School to a 18-0 win over Bonny Eagle (Standish, ME) on Friday.

Volk racked up five RBIs on two hits for Scarborough High School. She homered in the first inning and singled in the fourth inning.

Bonny Eagle couldn't get anything going as long as Volk was in the circle. Bonny Eagle managed just one hit off of Volk, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out seven during her four innings of work.

Twelve runs in the opening three innings allowed Scarborough High School to easily put away Bonny Eagle . A walk by Abbie Murrell, a home run by Volk, and an RBI single by Hannah Ricker during the first inning and an RBI single by Kaleigh Scoville and a three-run home run by Murrell in the second inning fueled Scarborough High School's offense early.

Scarborough High School easily handled Bonny Eagle pitching as seven hitters combined for 15 hits, 15 RBIs and 16 runs scored.

Scarborough High School matched its two-run third inning with two more in the fourth. In the third, Scarborough High School scored on an RBI double by Chloe Griffin, scoring Maggie Murphy.

Scarborough High School added four more runs in the top of the fifth. Tori Hale singled, plating Chloe Gorey to start the inning.
