Unbeaten Scarborough routs Gorham with 18-hit attack

Great pitching leads Scarborough High School past Gorham HS 15-0

A magnificent effort by Lilly Volk hoisted Scarborough High School to a 15-0 win in seven innings over Gorham HS on Monday.

Scarborough High School's Volk kept Gorham HS off the scoreboard for all seven innings she was on the rubber. She pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on three hits while ringing up seven.

Scarborough High School continued to add runs until the end of the game. Scarborough High School scored six runs in the last one innings to finish off the win. Scarborough High School scored six runs in the seventh on Scarborough High School scored in the seventh on an RBI single by Tori Hale, an RBI single by Maggie Murphy, a two-run single by Kaleigh Scoville, and a two-run single by Volk.

Scoville racked up four RBIs on three hits for Scarborough High School.

Lindsey Wilcox was the game's losing pitcher. She lasted just three innings, walked none, struck out none, and allowed four runs.

Scarborough High School never surrendered the lead after the first inning, scoring two runs on an RBI double by Scoville and a sacrifice fly by Chloe Gorey.

Scarborough High School brought home one run in the second inning, and matched that run total in the third. In the second, Scarborough High School scored on an RBI double by Murphy, scoring Laura Powell.

Scarborough High School increased its lead with three runs in the fifth. Lindsey Kelley kicked things off with a single, plating Courtney Brochu. That was followed up by Katie Verreault's double, scoring Kelley.
