20 Hits (Six 2B's & Four HR's) Propel SHS Past SPHS 18-1

Wednesday was a great day for Abbie Murrell, as she hit two home runs to carry Scarborough High School to an 18-1 victory over South Portland HS in five innings.

Seventeen runs in the first three innings helped Scarborough High School blow out South Portland HS. An RBI single by Kaleigh Scoville, a two-run home run by Murrell, and a solo home run by Lilly Volk in the first inning and an RBI double by Chloe Gorey, a sacrifice fly by Chloe Griffin, an RBI single by Scoville, a bases loaded walk by Stephanie Aceto, and a two-run single by Hannah Ricker during the second inning fueled Scarborough High School's offense early.

Scarborough High School hit four home runs in the win. Additional home runs for Scarborough High School came when Katie Verreault homered in the third inning and Murrell homered in the first and fourth innings.

Chloe Griffin got it done on the rubber on the way to a win. She allowed one run over five innings. Chloe Griffin struck out five, walked none and gave up four hits.

Scarborough High School easily handled South Portland HS pitching as eight hitters combined for 18 hits, 16 RBIs and 17 runs scored.

Aceto took the loss for South Portland HS. She allowed 18 runs in three innings, walked two and struck out one.

Scarborough High School answered South Portland HS' top inning with seven runs of its own in the third. Scarborough High School scored on an RBI single by Chloe Griffin, an RBI double by Scoville, an RBI double by Murrell, and a home run by Verreault.
