Snappers Win In Extra Innings Over Pasquale's Pizzeria
Pasquale's Pizzeria started the game with a run in the top of the first inning on a single by Johnny Rende and a double by Anthony Defilippo. South Hills responded in the second inning on a single by brandon Whitfield and an RBI single by Tom McCarthy. Both teams stayed quiet in the third. The Snappers threatened to score in the fourth with bases loaded and one out, but could not get a run to cross. After 7 innings of play the score was tied 1-1. In the top of the 8th inning Pasquale's led off with a single. The next batter bunted, but the ball was thrown away, and the third hitter of the inning reached on a walk. With the bases loaded Matt Bradburn hit a sacrifice fly to take a 2-1 lead. With runners at first and third, Pasquale's attempted a squeeze, but Matt Nelson made a diving catch off of the mound to turn a double play. In the bottom of the 8th inning, Billy Wasko led off with a single, followed by bunt base hits from Nelson and Mike McCarthy. With bases loaded and no outs, Pat McCarthy hit a ball down the left field line to score 2 runs and give the Snappers a 3-2 win.
