Mudcats Win A Thriller In Extra Innings

South Park jumped on Mudcats' starter, Adam Becker, quickly in the first inning. Anthony Monaco blasted a double over the left fielder's head to begin the game. Monaco scored on Chad Jacob's single, giving South Park a 1-0 lead. It didn't take Quinn Construction long to erase that deficit. Zack Miller was hit by a pitch and then Greg Schneider launched a bomb over the right center field fence to give the Quinn squad a 2-1 lead. Scoring was hard to come by on both ends after the first inning. Some good pitching and bad base running stopped both teams from scoring in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th innings. South Park tied the game in the 5th inning. Quinn reliever, Cody Gross, walked Tyler Amedure to lead off the inning. Amedure ended up in a rundown after a bunt attempt and safely made his way to second on a missed tag. DJ Michalski bunted Amedure to third, and Amedure scored on Erik Fawcett's sac fly to left. The top of the 8th inning got very interesting. With the score tied 2-2, Anthony Monaco lead off the inning with a triple to right. The Mudcats brought in one of their outfielders to make a five-man infield. Ben Nolan hit a hard smash down to third that was nabbed by a diving Tarran Senay to record the first out. Chad Jacob followed with a hard one-hopper to Gross for the second out. The Mudcats intentionally walked Ryan Dodson and got Nick Arnoni to pop out to third to wiggle out of the jam. In the bottom of the 8th inning, a banged up Anthony Girdano pinch hit for Corry Ryan and laced a single to right. Tom Simcho pinch-ran for Girdano with Senay coming to the plate. Senay crushed the second pitch he saw down the right field line which brought Simcho all the way around from first with the walk off winning run. With the win, the Quinn Construction team wrapped up the regular season title with one more game remaining on the schedule.
