Early Lead For BVA Sets Stage For Victory Over Charleroi
BVA jumped out to an early lead over Charleroi and took home a 9-3 victory on Saturday. BVA scored on a groundout by Cole Naylor in the first inning, a single by Max Gauden in the first inning, a fielder's choice by Aidan Ochs in the first inning, a single by Joshua Hoffman in the second inning, and a stolen base by Hoffman in the second inning.
BVA scored four runs in the fifth inning. The big inning was thanks to a walk by Logan Seliga and a sacrifice fly by Nicholas Stanger.
Andrew Sokol was the winning pitcher for BVA. He surrendered three runs on nine hits over six innings, striking out three and walking one. Tyler Steadmanthrew one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Hunter Perry took the loss for Charleroi. He allowed four hits and five runs over one and one-third innings.
BVA racked up seven hits. Sokol and Hoffman each had multiple hits for BVA. Sokol went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead BVA in hits. BVA stole nine bases during the game as three players stole more than one. Hoffman led the way with three.
