Two BVA Pitchers Combine To Shutout West Mifflin
BVA defeated West Mifflin 9-0 on Monday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Tyler Steadman struck out Ben Chuba to finish off the game.
BVA secured the victory thanks to five runs in the fourth inning. BVA offense in the inning was led by Cole Naylor, Aidan Ochs, Andrew Kostelnik, and Mason Pascoe, all driving in runs in the frame.
BVA scored five runs in the fourth inning. Naylor, Ochs, Kostelnik, and Pascoe all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.
One bright spot for West Mifflin was a single by Cameron Leskovitz in the third inning.
Andrew Sokol got the win for Belle Vernon Leopards Varsity. He lasted four innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out seven. Steadman threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen. Steadman recorded the last nine outs to earn the save for Belle Vernon Leopards Varsity.
Jake Walker took the loss for West Mifflin. He allowed seven hits and nine runs over three and a third innings.
BVA totaled ten hits. Garrett Greco and Ochs each collected multiple hits for Belle Vernon Leopards Varsity. Ochs and Greco all had two hits to lead Belle Vernon Leopards Varsity.
Leskovitz led West Mifflin with one hit in one at bats.
