Game 1 - Mudcats Overcome Adversity In Win

The number 8 seeded Pittsburgh Outlaws jumped all over the number 1 seeded Quinn Construction Mudcats and starter Corry Ryan, in the top of the first inning. A walk, hit batter, and four singles gave the Outlaws a 4-0 lead in this the top of the first. The Cats got one in the bottom half when Tarran Senay singled home Jim Pasquine who had doubled. The Outlaws extended that lead in the second inning with two more runs. A walk and a Colin Hlad triple gave the Outlaws a 6-1 lead. It didnt take long for Quinn Construction to erase that 5-run deficit. The Mudcats scored 6 runs in the bottom of the second inning, highlighted by Senays mammoth 2-run blast into the trees at Winklevoss Field. Quinn Construction added a run in the third inning. Courtesy runner, Cody Gross, stole second and stole home to up the lead to 8-6. The Mudcats tacked on five more runs in the final three innings to up their lead to 13-6. Zack Salmon, who relieved Ryan in the third inning, shut down the Outlaws for the remainder of the game to earn the win for the Mudcats. Salmon gave up one hit through five innings of relief while fanning 6 batters. The Quinn Construction offense was lead by Jim Pasquine (3-3, 2 doubles, 3 runs scored, 2 RBI), Tarran Senay (2-3, a HR, walk, 2 runs scored, 3 RBI), Zack Miller (2-4, double, run scored), Mike Herman (2-2, double, 2 walks, 2 RBI) and Jake Liposky (2-4, triple, run scored, 2 RBI).
