Complete Game By Lafferty Sends Pasta Too Over Snappers 4-1
Daily News League rookie Drew Lafferty threw a complete game allowing 4 hits and striking out 5 in his first career start. Pasta Too's defense helped out Lafferty who battled around 4 walks and 3 hit batters by turning a triple play and double play in the game. The Snappers Tony Iannuzzo threw well, limiting Pasta Too to 2 runs, 1 earned in his 5 innings of work. A solo homer by Carter Grote pushed the lead to 3-0 in the 6th for Pasta Too. In the bottom of the frame the Snappers were threatening as they had a runner on third and one out. Lafferty hit consecutive batters which loaded the bases for Pat McCarthy who drove a ball off the center field fence to score the runner from third but a miscommunication on the base paths ended up with the Snappers in a rundown that resulted in the 2nd out. Lafferty then struck out the next batter with men on 2nd and 3rd to end the threat. Anthony Monaco and Chad Jacob were Pasta Too's only batters with 2 hits and each also drove in a run. David Monaco also drove in a run for the winners. Pat McCarthy paced the Snappers offense with a 2-3 night and RBI. Pasta Too moves to 15-3 on the season and the Snappers fall to 10-7 with much of the playoff picture still to be determined.
