AJ Buchman throws no-hitter in Spooner's 4-0 win
Spooner clinched the Independent regular season championship with a 4-1 win over the Hornets behind AJ Buchman's no-hitter. Buchmann struck out 8 and allowed two baserunners on a walk and hit batter.
The Hornets scored first in the top of the fourth, when Nolan Rowe walked, stole second, tagged up and advanced to third on pop out to the second baseman in short right field, and raced home when the throw got past the third baseman.
Spooner took the lead on Sam Holden's two-out, two-run double in the bottom of the fifth, and they added single runs in the sixth and eighth innings.
Isaac Rohde pitched the first seven innings for the Hornets, scattering 9 hits and inducing 3 double play ground balls.
