Early Lead For South Park Seals Fate For BVA
BVA fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 9-2 loss to South Park on Saturday. South Park scored on a error in the first inning.
The BVA struggled to contain the high-powered offense of South Park, giving up nine runs.
In the bottom of the first inning, South Park tied things up at one. An error scored one run for South Park.
South Park pulled away for good with one run in the second inning. In the second Tyler Corcoran laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring one run.
South Park scored four runs in the fourth inning. The big inning for South Park came thanks to a single by Jake Mittleider, a sacrifice fly by Breden Gray, and a double by Corcoran.
Kevin Vaupel was the winning pitcher for South Park. He lasted five and two-thirds innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out nine. Zach Lemansky threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Cole Naylor took the loss for BVA. He surrendered six runs on five hits over three and a third innings, striking out one.
Garrett Greco, Logan Seliga, and Joshua Hoffman all had one hit to lead Belle Vernon Leopards Varsity.
South Park scattered ten hits in the game. Mittleider and Vaupel all had multiple hits for South Park.
