Behind Smith Revamped & Reinvigorated Condors grab the Ring
-Another great effort by Jay Smith to contain a very strong and long Tigers lineup enabled the Condors to capture their 2nd Winter Championship in 3 years. Arguably the league MVP, Smith finished 8-2, 75 IP (that's all but 4 of the Condors innings this Winter), averaging 6.5 TOTAL runs allowed). The Condors defense, anchored by Gary Rossof behind the plate, also picked up with a couple of key arrivals to help the steady play of CF Dave Malver and SS Rob McGiffin, so that despite the absence of the latter in the the 2 playoff games, Petros Khrimyan and Mike Peters more than capably picked up the slack. All of the top of the lineup regulars hit the ball hard and consistently to help the Condors avenge an 6-1 loss to these Tigers in October when they managed only 4 hits off Will Diaz, and Taro Remberg was a human vacuum at 3B. It also helped erase some of the memory of a tough Spring/Summer season. With most of the new arrivals committed to returning, hopes are springing for March.
