Hitter's Club Edges Quinn Construction 5-4
The Hitter's Club got a much needed 5-4 win over perennial powerhouse Quinn Construction in a game played at Whitaker Park. Strong pitching performances from starter Andy Prentice and Jay Lemmert in relief led the way for HC, who managed to score their 5 runs on only 5 hits. Jim Pasquine's 3rd home run of the season, a shot to straight away center field put Quinn in front 2-0 in after 3 1/2 innings. The HC, who had been held without a base runner for the first 3 innings, rallied in the bottom half of the fourth scoring 3 runs on the strength of hits by Max Daley, Jace Cappellini and Jordan Cavanaugh. The tightly played game was decided in the bottom of the seventh when Alex Ligeros led off with a double, battled through a leg cramp and gamely scampered home on a wild throw with 2 outs. The HC improved its record to 4-10 while Quinn is now 10-4.
