Quinn Construction Defeats Plum In Extra Innings
Extra innings were needed to decide this game. Corry Ryan and AJ Collins were locked in a 1-1 pitcher’s duel after 7 innings. AJ Olasz hit a solo shot to lead off the 2nd, for the Mudcats run. Brandon Hoener singled home Joe Luciana in the 6th inning for Plum’s run. In the top of the 8th inning, Mike Huber doubled and scored on a Jake Walker single to put Quinn Construction up 2-1. Cam Dimidjian came on to attempt to close the game in relief of Corry Ryan. Joe Luciana lined a ball to center that was misplayed and Luciana ended up on third base. Dimidjian struck out the next batter, but the following batter shattered his bat and ended up with an infield single that scored Luciana, making it 2-2. The Mudcats went to Easton Klein on the mound and he retired the next two batters, sending the game into the ninth inning. Jim Pasquine singled to start the ninth. He came to third on Olasz’s single. Tarran Senay walked to load the bases. Eric Morrison singled in Pasquine, and Mike Huber hit a sac fly to make the score 4-2. In the bottom of the ninth with one out, Tanner Conklin laid down a perfect bunt for a base hit to bring the tying run to the plate. The game ended however when Conklin tried to steal second and was gunned down by catcher Logan Simmons on a strike three call on the batter.
