8 Run Rally in 5th Powers Storm to Lead & Win over Red Riots

Scarborough Redstorm Varsity ran off with the lead late in the game in a 10-6 victory over South Portland on Wednesday. Scarborough Redstorm Varsity trailed 5-4 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Angelina Pizzella doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.
Both pitching staffs had their hands full, frequently dealing with runners on base. Scarborough Redstorm Varsity collected 13 hits and South Portland had 13.
South Portland fired up the offense in the first inning, when Elise Connor doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.
Jenna Giguere earned the victory on the rubber for Scarborough Redstorm Varsity. The righthander allowed seven hits and three runs over four innings, striking out one and walking zero.
Mia Micucci took the loss for South Portland. The bulldog lasted six innings, allowing 13 hits and ten runs while striking out three and walking one.
Pizzella started the game for Scarborough Redstorm Varsity. The righty lasted three innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out three and walking one
Scarborough Redstorm Varsity collected 13 hits on the day. Katie Roy, AJ Swett, Jordan Crosby, Calynn Gendreau, and Pizzella all managed multiple hits for Scarborough Redstorm Varsity. Pizzella, Gendreau, Crosby, Swett, and Roy each collected two hits to lead Scarborough Redstorm Varsity.
South Portland racked up 13 hits. Delaney Whitten, Julia Connors, and Micucci each had multiple hits for South Portland. Whitten went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead South Portland in hits.
