Morris Walk-Off Secures Slugs' Spot In Bracket Round
With the season on the line, down to their final out. losing by one run, Nate Morris came to the plate for the Slugs and hit a walk-off grand slam to conquer the Ladder Quest and secure the eight seed in the double elimination bracket round. Morris homered earlier in the game, as well, to put the Slugs up 2-0 after one inning of play. Bernie Riley drove in Maxx Melnyk with a double to the right field wall to narrow the margin to 2-1 Slugs. The score remained 2-1 until the fifth inning, that's when Melnyk smacked a two run homer over the left field fence to put High Heat up 3-2 in the last inning of play. Morris hit his walk-off the next half inning after three singles and a fly out to start the inning for the Slugs. Morris was also the winning pitcher, while Melnyk got the L for High Heat, both threw complete games.
