Jarod Hoener's Heroic Pitching Performance Carries Plum
After 9 innings, the Pterodactyls walk it off to defeat the Mudcats in a tightly contested game at Plum High School. Plum struck first scoring 3 runs in their first at bat after back-to-back RBI doubles by Will Kirkpatrick and Mark Mazur. Quinn would respond by scratching across a run in the top of the 2nd. In the bottom half of the inning Alex Terrell would triple and then score on a sacrifice fly by Evan Sante to extend Plum's lead to 4-1. The Mudcats chipped away, pushing across a run in the 4th, and then 2 more in the 5th inning to tie the game at 4-4. Both offenses would cool down until the bottom of the 9th. With 1-out Andrew Vincent and Brandon Hoener would reach base with singles. Jared Hoener then lined out to right field for the 2nd out of the inning. Justin Sembower would then end the game with a line drive over the second baseman to score Andrew Vincent and seal the win for Plum. Both teams' starting pitchers would go the distance, with Jared Hoener picking up the victory. Hoener gave up 4 earned runs on 9 hits, while walking 6 and striking out 6 batters.
