Mudcats Win Battle Of Missed Opportunities

This game had many base runners but both teams struggled to get the big hit. Quinn Construction struck first in the 1st inning. Jim Pasquine singled, Tarran Senay doubled, and then Pasquine came across with the games first run on an Eric Morrison sac fly to left field. The Mudcats added a run in the 2nd inning when Ryan Lang walked, moved to second on a wild pitch, and then scored on another Pasquine single. The Mudcats added two more in the 4th to make it 4-0 but couldnt get that big hit to blow the game open. South Park meanwhile had multiple base runners during the first four innings but couldnt solve starter Kenny Gault. In the 5th, Corry Ryan relieved Gault and allowed an unearned run to make it 4-1. Things got interesting in the top of the 6th inning. Ryan Dodson lead off the 6th with a double down the left field line. Jean Santos reached on a bloop single and Connor Klingensmith reached on an error to load the bases with no outs. Quinn Construction pulled Ryan and turned to Lang to put out the fire. The young West Mifflin product did just that as he induced a ground ball to third baseman Devin Matey. Matey fired a throw home to get the force and catcher Corey Kuszaj faked the throw to first base. Santos fell for the fake rounding third and Kuszaj ran him down to get the second out. Lang then got Carter Grote to ground out to Matey to end the threat. Lang got two quick outs in the 7th, but two runners reached base on an error and a single, bringing Ryan Dodson up to bat as the tying run. Lang whiffed Dodson to end the game and earn the save. Pasquine lead all hitters with a 3 for 3 performance and 2 RBIs. Kenny Gault earned his fourth win of the season.
