Game 16- Simmons Brothers Lead Mudcats To Three-Peat

For the second consecutive game, the Titans jumped ahead 3-0 in the first inning. Four singles and a HBP off of starter Ryan Lang put the Mudcats in an early hole. Quinn Construction would get two of those runs back in the top of the 2nd without notching a hit. After three consecutive walks, Logan Simmons hit a ground ball to first baseman Dan Boehme. Boehme came home for the force play but threw the ball away allowing the first run to score. Simmons didn't run to first thinking the ball was fouled off his foot so the Titans catcher threw back to first to retire Simmons. On that throw first, Angelo Volomino came around from second to score the second run, making it 3-2 Titans. Brody Simmons came on in relief of Lang in the bottom of the second inning and totally shut down the Titans offense for the rest of the game. He retired 15 out of the first 16 batters he faced allowing the Mudcats to stay in the game. DJ Newby was successful at holding the Mudcat offense scoreless in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings but they finally got to him in the 6th. With the score still at 3-2, Eric Morrison drew a lead off walk. Instead of bunting, AJ Olasz drilled a double over the right fielder's head to bring Morrison around to tie the game. Olasz came home with the go ahead run on a Chance Satcho single. Satcho made it 5-3 when he scored on Jake Walker's single to right. Quinn Construction got some big insurance runs in the top of the 7th. Tarran Senay lead off the inning with a double off the fence. After two strike outs and two walks, Logan Simmons put the game out of reach with a bases clearing double to make it 8-3. Brody Simmons allowed his first hit in the bottom of the 7th inning but the Titans were not able to score. This DNL championship gives Quinn Construction its third title in a row and marks its 7th title in the past 10 years.
