Mudcats No-Hit USC In Nightcap
Quinn Construction finished off their doubleheader with a 3-man no hitter vs. USC. Kenny Gault started things off by tossing 4 innings and striking out nine batters. Brody Simmons came on in relief and pitched two innings of work while not surrendering a hit. Jim Pasquine finished the game by striking out three batters but allowed three base runners via shoddy defense behind him. The game was close until the 5th inning. The Mudcats broke up the 0-0 tie with three runs in the bottom of the 5th. Zane Griffaton started things off with a walk and then stole second. He came home when Jake Walker doubled to right field. Angelo Volomino singled up the middle, moving Walker to third. Walker came home on a Chance Satcho sac fly to center. Volomino advanced to second, stole third, and then stole home to stake the Mudcats to a 3-0 lead. The Mudcats added three more runs in the sixth to extend their lead and put the game out of reach.
