Phillies come back from 7-0 to win 7-8
Phillies got off to a rough start in the season opener against long-time rivals the Arrowheads. After the Phillies struggled with the cold weather in the first two innings, the Phillies bullpen came out strong and held the Arrowheads to a manageable 7 runs. Phillies bats came alive later in the game with clutch hitting and base running from Tony Bermani, Chris McGrath, Jonathan Legoretta, Jack Magnani, Ben Tufano, and many others. Phillies manager Greg Burke lit up the radar gun with his 61mph "fast" ball in the 8th and somehow did not give up any runs, setting the stage for Phillies closer Jonathan Legoretta to shut down the ninth. Phillies assistant manager Meghan Jones completed her first full game scorekeeping for the 2023 season, and learned the difference between a fielder's choice and a hit.
