Game 12 - After Two Days, Quinn Construction Goes To Finals

Quinn Construction and the Titans locked horns for the fourth time this season. On the line was a spot in the finals to face regular season champ, South Park. Quinn Construction previously defeated the Titans this year 5-4 and 7-6 while the Titans bested the Mudcats 3-2. Needless to say, this game was bound to be a close one. The game took two days to play, tempers flared, and ejections were made. This game had all the makings of a playoff game between two rivals. Jim Pasquine got things started for Quinn Construction in the first inning. Pasquine singled, stole second, and then came home on a Bert Kovalsky single. The Titans tied it up in the 2nd on back to back doubles by Dan Boehm and Nick Arnoni. The Mudcats returned serve and took the lead right back in the third. Pasquine got plunked and came home on an AJ Olasz sacrifice fly for a 2-1 advantage. The Titans put up a three-spot in the 5th to regain the lead at 4-2. A Mudcat error allowed Jayneil Latham Mason to reach base. A single by Zach Murray, double by Joe Killian, and single by Arnoni put the Titans ahead. The scrappy Mudcats scratched out a run in the bottom of the 5th to make it 4-3 and once again it was the Pasquine-Olasz combination. Pasquine lead off the 5th with a single, stole second and scored on an Olasz single. In the top of the 6th, the Titans added an insurance run. Latham-Mason walked and scored on a Killian bloop single to make it 5-3 in favor of the Titans. In the bottom of the 6th, the Mudcats took the lead back with three runs. Logan Simmons lead off the inning with a walk and came around to tie the game on a Tarran Senay double. After walks to Pasquine and Eric Morrison loaded the bases, Olasz once again shined by lacing a single that scored Senay and Pasquine giving Olasz a 4-RBI night and a 6-5 lead. It is at this point the umpires gathered and decided it was time to call the game because of darkness. The game was picked up from that spot on Thursday with Quinn Construction holding onto a slim 6-5 lead. The Mudcats just needed three outs to eliminate the Titans and move onto the finals. Kenny Gault took the mound in the 7th inning for the Mudcats and did not disappoint. Gault got Dan Boehme to fly out to right and then struck out Arnoni and Tyler Amedure to end the game. Ryan Lang was credited with the win in relief of Brody Simmons who went 5.2 innings for Quinn Construction. This marks the 11th finals appearance for Quinn Construction in the past 12 years. The only year they did not make the finals in that stretch was 2017 when they lost to?....South Park. The Mudcats are the reigning three-time DNL champions. South Park is a perfect 25-0. At least one of these streaks is gonna end this weekend. The game 1 showdown will take place on Saturday at Evans field starting at 2:00.
