Game 13 - Matt Mish & Dylan Kugler Lead South Park By Quinn

The undefeated South Park vs. Quinn Construction, winners of the last three Daily News League titles, match up figured to be a a close series and game one did not disappoint. Quinn got started early in the top of the first when former South Park High School and North Carolina State star Tarran Senay led off with a single and would eventually score on an A.J. Olasz single. South Park pitcher Matt Mish would battle hard and ended the inning with the bases loaded. South Park would answer in the bottom half of the inning. Consecutive singles by Adam Weber and Edberg Dominguez would put runners on first and third. Cleanup hitter Luis Gonzalez would strike out but the ball got past the catcher and he had to throw Gonzalez out at first, which Weber read perfectly and scored from third to tie the game. Dominguez would score the 2nd South Park run when Quinn shortstop Bert Kovalsky made an errant throw to first base. Quinn Construction would knot the game at 2 in the top of the third. DNL Hall Of Famer Jimmy Pasquine would lead off with a single and eventually score on a sacrifice fly by Eric Morrison to make it 2-2. Quinn Construction's Luke Hil's would keep South Park off the board in innings two thru five before South Park would cash in in the sixth. Mish would draw a leadoff walk and Jean Santos would take a hit by pitch to put two on with one out. Pinch hitter Ryan Dodson would single to load the bases. Hils would strike out Antonio Carrillo for the second out and bring up Dylan Kugler, South Park's catcher. Kugler would single through the right side to score both Mish and Santos to give South Park a 4-2 lead. Mish would retire the side in order in the seventh to clinch the game one victory. Mish would walk one, scatter six hits and strikeout five in a performance where he seemingly got stronger as the game progressed. Quinn's Hil's would take the tough luck loss, striking out five and surrendering seven hits in a strong outing. South Park will be seeking it's first Championship since 2017 tomorrow night when the teams go to battle in game two.
