Game 15 - Mudcats Knock Off South Park, 4th Title In A Row

Coming into the finals, the mission for Quinn Construction was pretty clear, end South Park's winning streak and walk away with the 4-peat. Done and done. After South Park won game one of the finals on Saturday, Quinn Construction bounced back on Monday to even the series 1-1. The Mudcats sealed the deal on Tuesday night by beating South Park 7-3 on their home field. Quinn Construction showed their mettle as they battled through some adversity. Tarran Senay missed game two on Monday with a 103 degree fever but that did not stop him from suiting up for game three and smacking a single, double, and 3 RBIs. Luke Hils was the game one loser on Saturday while pitching a complete game. Hils came back on two days rest tonight and pitched six innings of relief to earn the win. In this final contest, the Mudcats struck first blood against starter Dylan Pounds. Jim Pasquine singled and came home with the first run on an Eric Morrison single, making it 1-0. In the bottom half of the first, Mudcats starter, Corry Ryan came out on fire. Ryan fanned Anthony Monaco and Adam Weber to start the inning but then things started to go downhill from there. Ryan walked two batters and allowed a single to Mac Ciocco to load the bases. Ryan Dodson hit a liner to right field but Angelo Volomino came running in to make the grab and keep the score at 1-0. In the top of the second inning, Volomino lead off the inning with a single and stole second. Volomino scored on a Logan Simmons single to right to make it 2-0. Chance Satcho moved Simmons over to second with a sacrifice bunt and then Simmons scored on a Senay single making it 3-0. South Park answered in the bottom of the 2nd. Ryan allowed three consecutive hits and walked Monaco to make it 3-1. With the bases loaded and no outs, the Mudcats pulled Ryan and summoned Hils from the bullpen. Hils immediately struck out Adam Weber and got Luis Gonzalez to bounce into a 1-2-3 double play to end the threat. In the top of the third, AJ Olasz gave the Mudcats a 4-1 lead with a solo bomb to right field. The Mudcats made it 5-1 in the fifth. Pasquine smacked a double, his third hit of the day, down the right field line. Bert Kovalsky moved Pasquine to third with a sacrifice bunt but Pasquine came home on an error by the first baseman. In the meantime, Hils cruised through the third, fourth and fifth innings. In the top of of the sixth inning, Quinn Construction extended their lead when Senay hit a deep double to center that scored Simmons and Satcho, making it 7-1. South Park came knocking again in the bottom of the sixth inning. An error and two singles loaded the bases for South Park, but Hils once again slammed the door on them as he fanned Dylan Kugler for the third out. In the final frame, South Park made some noise and scored two runs but it wasn't enough as the Quinn Construction Mudcats held on for the win. Hils was the winning pitcher. Pounds was the loser. This title now gives Quinn their eighth title in eleven years and four in a row.
