River Bandits Lose A Tough Game Against Ducks
Miami Valley River Bandits had trouble keeping up with Dayton Ducks in a 12-0 loss on Sunday at Bellbrook High School.
Dayton Ducks got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Trevor Burbank singled, Ruben Rodriguez singled, Dave Geiger singled, and Mark Franklin grounded out, each scoring one run.
Dayton Ducks added one run in the third after John Ramsey singled.
Dayton Ducks scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. An error scored one run, Bill Stanforth grounded out, scoring one run, an error scored one run, and Trevor Burbank singled, scoring two runs.
Dayton Ducks scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth on a home run to center field by Chris Jergens.
Bill Stanforth earned the win for Dayton Ducks. The starting pitcher gave up five hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out two and walking none. Jeff Cherry took the loss for Miami Valley River Bandits. The starting pitcher went six innings, allowing eight runs (three earned) on eight hits, striking out four and walking none.
Chris Fine, Miguel Curi, Jimmy Sorrell, Jason Studebaker, and Hill each collected one hit for Miami Valley River Bandits. Miami Valley River Bandits turned two double plays in the game.
Dayton Ducks tallied 11 hits in the game. Trevor Burbank provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Dayton Ducks with three runs batted in. They went 2-for-4 on the day. John Ramsey led Dayton Ducks with three hits in three at bats.
