Dylan Pounds Dominates Snappers In Complete Game, 7-1 Win

In what has been one of the Daily News Leagues best rivalries for over a decade now, there are usually no easy victories, but South Park starting pitcher Dylan Pounds made sure this one was against a makeshift Snappers lineup. Pounds would start off as hot as the evenings thermometer, striking out 5 through 3 innings. Overall he would finish with 7 punch outs in the complete game victory while scattering 7 hits and walking 2. South Park would get on the board in the second inning when after Anthony Monaco led off with a single. Alejandro Palaez would lift a double deep to the left field corner scoring Monaco. Pelaez would end up on 3rd after a fly out, before scoring the second run on a wild pitch. Pelaez would come up big again in the 4th. A leadoff walk to Dylan Kugler followed by an Anthony Monaco double would put runners on second and third and force the Snappers to play their infield in. Pelaez would fight off a pitch and bloop a single into the outfield over the drawn in infield, scoring Kugler and Monaco. Pelaez would then score on a Michali Brito RBI single to make it 5-0 South Park. The victors would conclude their scoring in the 5th inning where Matt Mish would lead off with a single and the scorching hot bat of Kugler would hit a liner to center that the centerfielder would dive for and miss. As the ball rolled all the way to the deepest part of the ballpark, Kugler would race around the bases for a stand-up inside the park home run and put the score at 7-0. The Snappers would get on the board in the 6th when after back to back one out singles by Brady Smith and Ed Schussler, Pounds would walk Matt Mulvihill to load the bases. Pounds would throw a wild pitch that got away from catcher Michali Brito and Smith would score to make it 7-1. Pounds would end the threat and inning with 2 straight Ks. Eddie Schussler, Pounds former college teammate, would lead the Snappers offense with a 3-3 day, racking up 3 singles. South Park moves to 9-3 on the season as the once mighty Snappers drop to 2-7. South Park is right back at it Sunday evening when they will host Netto's Snack Shack.
