Vipers Split Series With Win Over South Park

Jake Seymour's dominant complete game pitching performance lead Allegheny Vision Vipers past South Park 11-1 on Monday. Vipers opened the scoring in the first after Dave Boehme doubled, scoring two runs. Both teams found a way to plate a run each in the 4th inning. An eventful top of the 6th inning ensued when Nick Arnoni flared a lead off single into left center field. Banter from South Park manager Mike Monaco and the field umpire left Monaco with an early exit to this contest. Dan Flynn then pinch hit with a check swing ground ball to the second baseman, Arnoni was able to evade the force tag and Flynn was able to hustle it out to be safe at first. This brought up Connor Davis for the Vipers, after a pitched ball that got away from the South Park catcher the Vipers base runners manipulated throws which resulted in Arnoni being on third base and Flynn safe at first base with no outs. Davis hit into a fielders choice scoring Arnoni and reaching first base safely. A Devin Donaldson single scored another run as well as an errored throw let another Viper to cross home plate for their 3 runs in that entertaining 6th inning. Allegheny Vision scored five runs on three hits in the top of the seventh inning. Seymour earned the win for Allegheny Vision, the right-handed pitcher gave up just two hits and one run (zero earned) over seven innings of work, striking out nine and walking two. Brandon Clifford took the loss for South Park, the starting pitcher went two innings, surrendering two runs on one hit, striking out none and walking five. Dave Boehme led Allegheny Vision with two hits in three at bats. Ryan Kragnes led the Vipers with four walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating 10 walks for the game and the speedy Vipers ran wild on the base paths, piling up six stolen bases for the game.
