BREWERS DEFEAT DRY IN FINAL GAME OF THE REGULAR SEASON!
The Metro Brewers were back in action on Friday night as they hosted the Dartmouth Dry in the final showdown of the 2024 regular season. Before we get into that we have to take it back a week where on last Tuesday the Brew Crew clinched their first ever playoff berth with a win over the Halifax Pelham Canadians by a score of 9-5.
In the clinching game again Pelham, The Brewers offense was led by Larenze Barton who went 2-4 with an absolute no doubter 2-run home run for his first home run of the season. Older brother Larry Barton had a big night as well going 2-4 with a long double, picking up three RBI's and scoring once. Ryan Abraham also was hot going 2-4 with a triple, two runs and two RBI's. Nolan Bennett went 2-4 driving in one run to give four Brewers with multiple hits. Tommy Hayman, Fulton Logan and Brett Hunt all collected one hit apiece.
Ewan Galloway got the start on the mound and picked up the win going four and a third innings striking out three batters and giving up three earned runs. Ryan Adams was first out of the pen going one and two thirds innings to keep things close. Brewers ace Ben Marsh came in for the seventh inning and retired the side in order striking out one batter.
In the final game of the season the Brew Crew went up against the first place seed Dartmouth Dry and came out on top by a score of 3-1. The Brewers used their great pitching and defense and some timely hitting to shut down the Dry.
Ben Marsh got the nod for the final game before the post-season throwing four scoreless innings to earn the victory, only allowing two hits, striking out five Dartmouth hitters and only allowing one free pass to finish off what was a remarkable season for the lefty ace. Kyle Hunt came in for the final three innings and cleaned up nicely giving up just three hits, one earned run and fanning four batters.
The offense was led by rookie Ewan Galloway who went 1-3 with a huge long ball recording his first home run of the season. Larry Barton and Tommy Hayman both collected two hits and driving in one run apiece. Larenze Barton, Logan Harvey and Kyle Sampson all chipped in with one single each.
The Brewers will now wait for the Playoff Schedule where they will take on the Sydney Sooners in round one for a best of five series. Stay tuned for updates as we will release the schedule as soon as its finalized.
