BREWERS EXTEND WIN STREAK TO THREE!

After some more rainouts, The Metro Brewers finally got back into action on Tuesday night as they were in the spotlight for their first game broadcasted on EastlinkTV of the season. The Brew Crew's strong pitching and defense once again proved to be a huge factor as they rallied for a 4-1 victory over the Kentville Wildcats improving their record now to 7-5.

Ben Marsh got the nod on the mound for The Brewers pitching in spectacular fashion and bringing a perfect game into the 5th inning. After surrendering his first hit and base runner of the game, Marsh finished off the game strong going five complete innings, only allowing two hits, one earned run, walking zero batters and striking out four. The Brewers closer Josh Tardif came in to finish off the last two innings giving up just one hit and striking out two to earn the victory.

In the bottom of the 6th inning in a close 1-1 game, The Brewers offense came alive. Tardif got it started after being hit by a pitch to reach first base. With two outs, Fulton Logan drew a big walk to bring Larry Barton up to the plate and he came up clutch delivering a long double to the gap scoring two runs. Owen Young then changed places with Barton driving a double of his own to score another run. Young finished the game 2-3. Alex Ouellette, Mike Short, Ryan Abraham and Logan each collected one hit apiece.

The Brewers pitching staff only allowed three hits on the evening and their defense committed no errors on a lot of tough plays proving that pitching and defense wins ball games. The Brewers maintain their second place status as they continue to shake up the league.

The Brewers head across the harbour to Beazley Field for their next game as they take on the first place Dartmouth Dry on Thursday July 11th, hoping that Hurricane Beryl will stay clear of the Metro area. Scheduled first pitch is at 7:30PM. Stay tuned for updates.
