Brewers lose a close game in a pitchers duel to the Dry.

After some projected heavy rain, it avoided the Metro area all together as the Metro Brewers were able to get their game in on Thursday night. It was a close battle with only five hits combined between the two ball clubs as the Dartmouth Dry came out on top by a score of 2-1.

The only offense in the game came in the first inning for both teams. Alex Ouellette led off the game by reaching on an error, stole second base, and then reached third base on a passed ball. Tommy Hayman came up and drove a deep fly ball to left field which cashed in Ouellette for the sacrifice fly. Mike Short recorded the only two hits for the Brew Crew and he finished the game 2-3. Reigning league MVP Anthony McKinley provided the offense for the Dry blasting a 2-run home run in the bottom of the first and that would be all the offense on the night.

Spencer Murray was on the mound for the Brewers once again pitching a phenomenal ball game going five strong innings only allowing two earned runs on three hits and striking out 4 Dartmouth batters. Murray continues to dominate the league when called to pitch and unfortunately couldn't come up with the victory tonight as the Brewers hot bats were stopped by the Dry's pitching staff.

The Brewers still maintain second place in the standings bringing them to a record of 7-6 and will be back in action on Sunday July 14th as they take on Halifax Pelham. The Brewers will be the away team this time around as they share the Halifax Mainland Commons with Pelham. First pitch is at 12:00PM.
